Hyderabad: The TDP which is in an upbeat mood following the huge response it had received in Vizianagaram on Wednesday received a further shot in the arm as three Congress ministers from Rayalaseema and five MLAs from Visakhapatnam district decided to join the party.

The five MLAs who are set to join the TDP from Visakhapatnam district are Avanti Srnivas ( Bheemili), P Ramesh Babu (Pendurthy), CH Venkataramaiah (Gajuwaka), VV Ramanamurthy Raju alias Kanna Babu (Elamanchili) and Ganta Srinivas. They called on TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at
the latter’s residence on Thursday.
These MLAs would join the party at a public meeting being attended by Naidu in Visakhapatnam on March 8, according to party insiders.
From Rayalaseema region, ministers from Kurnool district Erasu Pratap Reddy and TG Venkatesh and senior Congress MLA Adala Prabhakar Reddy drove to Naidu’s residence in the morning. They were accompanied by TDP MP G Ramamohan Rao and CM Ramesh.
Later speaking to the media, Venkatesh said that the three ministers including him came out of the Congress protesting against the decision of the Centre to divide the state. He said Naidu discussed with them the development of the residual state and his dream to convert it into another Singapore.
The focus was on developing the new state rather than who would get tickets to contest. He said they also urged him to consider Kurnool as the second capital for the residuary state. Venkatesh said he was of the firm opinion that Naidu alone could develop the new state of Andhra Pradesh.
