VV Lakshminarayana, Former Joint Director of CBI, AAP, Thane Joint Commissioner of PoliceHyderabad: After a long wait, the former Joint Director of CBI, VV Lakshminarayana, has been appointed Thane Joint Commissioner of Police on Monday. His new posting will put to rest the speculation that he might join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which had approached him some time ago.

According to sources, Lakshminarayana, over the last few months, had been expecting a key post in Mumbai but that had not materialised. ‘’Earlier, he had been considered for the post of Joint Commissioner (crime) in Mumbai but for some reason it could not materialise,’’ the sources said

It might be recalled that after he was relieved as Joint Director of CBI, Hyderabad, he had reported to his parent cadre Maharashtra but for the past seven months he did not get any posting. Finally, the government of Maharashtra appointed him Joint Commissioner of Police, Thane.

A 1990-batch IPS officer, Lakshminarayana has dealt with several prominent cases including the much-talked about YS Jaganmohan Reddy's Disproportionate Assets (DA) case during his stint in AP. He also inquired cases relating to Gali Janardhana Reddy and handled several politically sensitive cases and earned a good reputation.
