Eluru: Former Minister Vatti Vasant Kumar on Monday announced retirement from active politics, after describing the State division as ‘unfortunate’. Talking to the media in Unguturu, he demanded expeditious completion of the Polavaram project. Vatti, who entered politics as the son of Venkataranga Parthasaradhi, rose to become a Minister in the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Cabinet. He had won in the 2009 Assembly elections by a majority of 6,459 votes over Ginni Lakshmikantham of the Telugu Desam.
