Medak: TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is to contest for the Assembly and Lok Sabha seats, this time around.

He is understood to have decided to upon Gajwel Assembly and the Medak Lok Sabha seat, a decision that has been put forward to the party leadership.

An announcement is likely to be made in the next couple of days. After joining the TDP in 1983, he has been contesting from Siddipet constituency. In 2004, he contested the Siddipet Assembly and Karimnagar Lok Sabha seats. He quit the Assembly seat, which his nephew T Harish Rao continues to represent. Although during the last Lok Sabha poll, he decided to opt for the Medak Lok Sabha seat, KCR shifted to Mahabubnagar, after film actor Vijayashanti insisted on Medak. He is learnt to have decided on Gajwel after collecting inputs from various sources. This is also the reason why Harish Rao has been made the Gajwel constituency in-charge for the municipal and local body elections.

He is hopeful that his old friends in Telugu Desam Party would switch loyalties and rally behind him, a development that could dampen the TDP spirits.
