Allagadda: Death Politics Begin. The elections for the Allagadda Assembly Constitution have been in tight spot with the tragic death of Shobha Nagireddy, the YSR Congress Party candidate from the Allgadda assembly constituency.

Hyderabad: The elections for the Allagadda Assembly Constitution have been in tight spot with the tragic death of Shobha Nagireddy, the YSR Congress Party candidate from the Allgadda assembly constituency. Initially, the Chief Election Commissioner of the state Banwar Lal said that the votes polled for Shobha Nagireddy will not be considered and in case if the bereaved candidate gets the majority, the one who will stand next to her in the race would be declared as the winner. Nevertheless, with the intervention and the clarity received from the National Election Commission, it was decided that in case late Shobha Nagireddy wins the poll, there will be a by election for Allagadda constituency.

From the other end, candidates of various other parties have approached the state High Court challenging the decision of the Election Commission. They argued in their petition that there was no meaning in including the name of a bereaved candidate in the list of elections and pleaded for the removal of the name of Shobha Nagireddy from the EVMs. In turn, the state high court has issued a notice to the Election Commission and listened to their arguments that once the process of elections begins, the court has no right to intervene in the matter. It is learnt that the court has decided to keep the results pending till the time the verdict is passed for Allagadda constituency.
