Warangal: Editor-in-Chief of HMTV and The Hans India K Ramachandra Murthy has proposed to institute an award and a lecture in memory of senior journalist late Bandi Ravinder, who had served as HMTV regional coordinator here. Ravinder passed away on May 1. Ramachandra Murthy said a trust would be set up and it would present ‘Best Journalist Award’ every year to a talented journalist. Bandi Ravinder Memorial Lecture would be conducted every year to promote standards in journalism.

Bandi Ravinder’s Services to Journalism Recalled

Ramachandra Murthy addressed a condolence meeting held here on Thursday in memory of Ravinder. He shared his experiences with Ravinder and described him as a person who displayed a high-level of commitment towards the organization he served and as well as maintained good standards of journalism. The Hans India Editor-in-Chief expressed his gratitude to Kapil Group chairman K Vamana Rao for coming forward to provide a pension of Rs 15,000 per month to the bereaved family for the next fifteen years. “This is a very kind gesture and an unprecedented one’, he added.

Senior journalists G Vijay, B R Lenin, P Siva Kumar and others too have lauded the gesture of the HMTV-The Hans India management for deciding to provide the pension to Ravinder’s family. Former MLC Chukka Ramaiah suggested including the life and works of Ravinder in text books to provide motivation to future generations and the idea was also supported by Ramachanadra Murthy. HMTV Input Editor Virahath Ali informed that HMTV and The Hans India employees across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have decided to contribute their one-day salary to give a financial succor to Ravinder’s family.

Telangana JAC leader Mallepalli Lakshmaiah informed that the SC/ST Officers Association has also come forward to provide financial help to Ravinder’s family. Several senior journalists, political leaders, TJAC leaders and others have also come forward to extend support to the family. SR Educational Institutions Chairman A Varada Reddy and TJAC leader K Venkata Swamy have offered to look after the intermediate education of Ravinder’s son Akhil. Senior journalist G Vijay said that he had planned to bring out a book on life and works of Bandi Ravinder. Ravinder’s wife Chandrakala and other family members were present.
