Hyderabad: The BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu said that there would be no second power at centre. BJP government would take its own decisions and even on political issues the RSS would not interfere.
At a press conference here on Monday, Venkaiah Naidu said that they had been all Swayamsevaks and would go to Sangh office and speak to Sangh leaders. He said he never had any experience of interference by the Sangh Pariwar when he headed the party as its national president.
Replying to another question, Naidu said, the BJP has two tasks at hand, to restart the schemes that Vajpayee had envisaged and to ensure that both the Telugu speaking states were put on path of development.
Venkaiah Naidu said that there was tremendous responsibility on the shoulders of the BJP. For last 10 years people were tired of corruption and dynastic politics. That is why they had taught a befitting lesson to the Congress party. It could not even get enough seats to get recongnised as the main opposition party in Lok Sabha, he said.
Venkaiah said that not only Congress even its allies were punished. DMK, the torch bearer of the Dravidian movement, was suffered drubbing in Tamil Nadu. Same was the case with National Conference, who is a fierce critic of Modi in Kashmir. Samajwadi Party, a Congress loyal ally has been reduced to a meagre five seats. Nationalist Congress Party has become a nominal party, he added. Venkaiah taunted the left parties by saying that they had lost identity and were under the danger of losing their national party status. I have been told that CPI party had polled less number of votes than NOTA, he said.
He found fault with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi for not having the courtesy to greet the Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi following the massive mandate received by him.
He said while leaders like American President, British Prime Minister and scores of Prime Ministers from across the globe, including our neighbours like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had greeted Narendra Modi, the Congress president and vice-president did not have the courtesy or the basic culture to greet the person who has got such a massive mandate, the BJP leader said.
