Hyderabad: The Andhra PCC leadership is contemplating to shift its headquarters from Hyderabad to Seemandhra region. The party leaders, who faced unprecedented rout in the just concluded elections, feel that unless they are in constant touch with the people their political fortunes cannot be revived. With their dreams of convincing the high command to convert Hyderabad as Union Territory shattered and with people rejecting them, the party leaders want to play a crucial role in monitoring the development of the residuary State in order to win back the confidence of the people.
Hence, the APCC is planning to shift its office either to Vijayawada or some other suitable place. Since the new capital is likely to come up somewhere near Vijayawada, it would be the best place to set up their State party headquarters. According to APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, the existing office at Indira Bhavan on the premises of Gandhi Bhavan will be the camp office of the APCC.
He said the party was planning to organise its extended-executive meeting at Vijayawada in the first week of June to review the election results and the party's dismal performance. They have also decided to adopt a hostile approach towards the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. A delegation of Seemandhra Congress leaders led by Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan here and urged him to ensure that Naidu implements his poll promise of waiving the crop loans with immediate effect.
