Excise officials beat woman over country liquor issue

Hyderabad: Early on Tuesday, excise officials beat a woman at Nallacheruvu of Nuziveedu town in Krishna district for allegedly not paying the bribe. The woman was in the illegal business of selling country liquor over a period of more than three years. Excise Constable Shiva used to get Rs 3k from her for safeguarding her towards the bribe.

Despite the fact that he got posted out from Nuziveedu to Vijayawada, he used to collect Rs3k from her every month. Shiva was denied bribe by the woman stating that she stopped selling the country liquor for the last three months and she does not have money. Shiva continuously carried out search in her home to find out the cheap liquor but to no avail.

Early on Tuesday, he visited her home along with the excise department officials and searched her home. They didn’t find the liquor. They brutally hit her demanding her to show the place where she had hidden the liquor. In this episode, she became unconscious. She was rushed to Nuziveedu government hospital and has been given treatment. The relatives of the woman approached the local police to intervene and do justice.
