New Delhi: On the new Capital for Andhra Pradesh, the Centre has decided to wait to hear from the State Government, as it alone can decide on the location of the new Capital. Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu told media persons on Thursday said that it is for the Andhra Pradesh Government to take the call on the location of the new Capital and he is already in touch with the State Government. The Sivaramakrishnan Committee has also been set up, which would also be giving its report.
Only the name Andhra Pradesh is old but there is no infrastructure on the ground. State Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s swearing-in took place near Guntur and the State Cabinet meeting was scheduled in Visakhapatnam. There is an urgent need for finalizing the State Capital at the earliest, he said. Urban Development Minister Venkaia Naidu is expected to visit Visakhapatnam for a review meeting on the municipal body. The meeting is expected to take place during the weekend.
