A biometric identity card is similar to existing cards but will also contain biometric information.
Probably, almost everybody knows that an identity card is a piece of cardboard or plastic that is shown to security guards, police officers and immigration staff. Cards are issued by all manner of organizations, most of these cards contain some basic details such as name, a photograph of the person's face and a reference number that allows the card to match to some central record held by the card issuer. Some of the more sophisticated cards also contain magnetic strips or barcodes that can be used with other machines to unlock doors so that the card acts like a key.
To implement the system, all offices will have to install fingerprint scanners. The objective of the system is to check the absenteeism and measure the time an employee spends in office and the time they checks in and checks out”.
The system will also seek to ensure that employees cannot backdate attendance or mark attendance for someone else. Similar systems have been implemented in many corporate offices, both in the private and the public sector.
Now the same pattern could be planned for the government employees by Chandrababu government in Andhra Pradesh.
