The elections for the Allagadda Assembly Constitution were in tight spot with the tragic death of Shobha Nagireddy, the YSR Congress Party candidate from the Allgadda assembly constituency, during the general elections. Initially, the Chief Election Commissioner of the state Banwar Lal said that the votes polled for Shobha Nagireddy will not be considered and in case if the bereaved candidate gets the majority, the one who will stand next to her in the race would be declared as the winner. Nevertheless, with the intervention and the clarity received from the National Election Commission, it was decided that in case late Shobha Nagireddy wins the poll, there will be a by election for Allagadda constituency.

Amidst many developments Shobha Nagireddy won the election, posthumously. There has been a need for the by-election.
