TDP leader Pothula SunitaOngole: Controversies seems to be haunting the Janmabhoomi programmes at several places in coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. Clashes are breaking out between the supporters of the ruling Telugu Desam Party and opposition parties.

A row over protocol that broke out at Janmabhoomi programme here on Sunday between Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishnamohan and TDP Chirala constituency incharge Pothula Sunita reached crisis proportions. The officials had to call off the programme as fisticuffs too broke out between supporters of the MLA and Sunita. In the melee that followed, a sarpanch, identified as Roopavathi, suffered injuries.

Arguments between the supporters of MLA Amanchi Krishnamohan and the TDP began when the legislator was not due recognition at the Janmabhoomi programme. When the supporters of the MLA protested, the TDP activists tried to shout the former down. The row led to scuffles between the supporters of the rival parties. Sunita was seen shouting at the top of her voice.

Chirala MLA Amanchi KrishnamohanSensing more trouble, the district administration ordered deployment of police force to disperse the warring groups from the venue. The administration also announced that the programme was called off.

It may be recalled that there was a spat between YSRCP MLA Uppuleti Kalpana and TDP leader Varla Ramaiaha at Kanumuru in Krishna district at Janmabhoomi programme. Kalpana, who defeated Ramaiah in the election to the State Assembly from Pamarru constituency in Krishna district, objected to unofficial being invited onto the dias. This had led to Ramaiah making unsavoury comment against Kalpana, saying that the MLA too would soon defect to the TDP. The MLA left the venue in anger.
