Hyderabad: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has decided to field Akhila Priya, daughter of Shoba Nagireddy as the party candidate for the Allagadda by-election which is slated to be held on November 8.

Announcing this, party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy said Shoba Nagireddy was a very popular leader and it was unfortunate that she had died in a tragic mishap while returning from election campaign. Despite this, she was declared elected as per the Election Commission rules making her the only person so far to have been elected posthumously.

The YSRCP which had decided not to put up a candidate against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) candidate in Nandigama by-election that was held recently following the personal request made by Deputy Speaker of AP Assembly Mandali Buddha Prasad hopes that the TDP would reciprocate the same by ensuring that Akhila Priya gets elected unanimously. To discuss with the TDP leadership on the need for a unanimous election, YSRCP has appointed a two-member committee comprising MV Mysoora Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao. These two leaders will meet leaders of all political parties and seek their cooperation.
