VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam woke up into a nightmarish scenario. The shattered glasses, uprooted trees and electric poles and soaring prices of essential commodities welcomed them on to a bright but mad Monday morning.
Majority of the commercial buildings located in areas such as Asilmetta, Sampath Vinayaka Temple Road, Maddilapalem, Muralinagar, among others, have been badly damaged, long queues are being witnessed at all petrol pumps, milk booths and grocery stores in the city as people scramble to collect as much of essentials as possible.
Prices of petrol, vegetables and milk have doubled and trebled overnight in some parts of the city over night adding to that many retailers allegedly jacking up the prices of essentials to cash in the tragedy.
