Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government is contemplating a special package to the families which had suffered loss of property like houses and motorcycles in the Hudhud cyclone. This proposed scheme would help the middle class families who had lost their property and is not covered by insurance, official sources said here on Wednesday.

During an informal chat with reporters here on Wednesday, AP Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu hinted at the possibility of the government coming out with a financial package for cyclone victims who come under middle-class segment.

“We have seen how badly the people of Visakhapatnam suffered the damages by the super cyclone. Houses of some middle class families were badly hit by the strong winds.

As middle-class people do not have insurance cover, the State government is planning to formulate a package for them. We are working out on the modalities,” said Ramakrishundu.

According to sources, based on the ongoing relief operations in Visakhapatnam, the government is trying to list out the damage caused to the property of various sections of people such as people below poverty line and middle-class sections. The government would soon come out with a comprehensive package for each section of people including those from middle-class, the minister added.
