Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh State government would appoint a team of consultants to survey the newly-found coal reserves in Chintalapudi, in Godavari Valley.

In a review meeting with mining department officials on Tuesday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the officials to ensure the survey of the coal deposits and submit a report within six months. Once the details of the survey were available, Chief Minister said he would write to the Centre to explore the possibility of generating power by using the newly-found coal deposits.

Earlier this year, the Geological Survey of India had informed the Andhra Pradesh government that it had discovered nearly 3,000 million tonnes of high quality coal reserves, within 500 meters depth in the Chintalapudi in West Godavari district. This could prove advantageous for the newly-formed State, he felt.
