Senior Congress Leader Kanna Lakshminarayana Joins BJP. In a major jolt to the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh, party senior leader and former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana on Tuesday switched loyalties to the BJP in the presence of the party national president, Amit Shah.
Hyderabad: In a major jolt to the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh, party senior leader and former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana on Tuesday switched loyalties to the BJP in the presence of the party national president, Amit Shah. Kanna met Amit Shah along with his supporters in New Delhi on Tuesday and expressed his willingness to join the party. He would officially join the party at a public meeting to be organised in his native Guntur district next week.

Laksminarayana said he had decided to quit Congress and join the BJP as he was impressed by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said he had not joined the party anticipating any post and would strive to strengthen party in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The five times MLA from Guntur district has been maintaining distance from the Congress party as he was denied the post of APCC President after the bifurcation of the state. He had also held several portfolios in united Andhra Pradesh. He was the Agriculture Minister before the state was bifurcated in the cabinet headed by N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
