Anantapur: At least 12 persons were injured in an explosion at Chapiri village under Kalyanadurg mandal in the district on Sunday morning.
The condition of the five of the injured was stated to be critical. They were shifted to Anantapur Government Hospital for better treatment.
The explosion happened when the people lighted bonfire. There was a sudden burst of fire with a deafening sound when some objects were thrown into the fire. The injured were K Fatima, V Swamy, Sithara, Iliyana, K Nagamma, Mahendra, P Marekka, Sri Devi, N Janbi, Kaleel, Payoja and G Singappa.
Meanwhile, local MLA Hanumantharaya Chowdary visited the hospital and consoled the victims. He asked the doctors to provide a good medicare to the injured.
