Govt providing incentives to physically-challenged
The Central and State governments are providing many incentives to physically-challenged through various schemes, said Collector Siddharth Jain.
Chittoor: The Central and State governments are providing many incentives to physically-challenged through various schemes, said Collector Siddharth Jain. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed at Ambedkar Bhavan under the aegis of Department of Physically Challenged here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said: “Physically challenged won’t seek sympathy from us but they want empathy as they would come out with flying colours if they are provided with opportunities.”
He emphasised the need for providing ramps in schools and government offices. He said that toilets should be constructed at commercial establishments. “I would construct toilets for them with the help of DRDA at the Collectorate,” he said. MLA D A Satyaprabha explained that disability in children occurs due to accidents and rare diseases when the baby was in mother’s womb. Furthermore, she stated that the government was granting pensions for welfare of physically-challenged.
