An offshore facility of Reliance Industries KG-D6 has won the prestigious Oil Industry Safety Award for the year 2012-13, conferred by the Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Kakinada: An offshore facility of Reliance Industries KG-D6 has won the prestigious Oil Industry Safety Award for the year 2012-13, conferred by the Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
The FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage & Offloading) Dhirubhai-1 platform of RIL KG-D6 received the Best Overall Safety Performance in Offshore Production Platforms category for the year 2012-13. Mr. Prem Kumar Verma, Chief- Production and Mr. V. Sivarama Krishna, Head- Offshore, RIL KG-D6, received this award from Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Petroleum & Natural Gas recently at a ceremony organised by OISD in New Delhi.
FPSO Dhirubhai-1 is the pride of India and Reliance, for being the first of its kind in India. It operates in the MA field, a part of the KG-D6 block. FPSO is equipped with world class Safety Management system. Facility is complied with IRS & DNV. RIL KG-D6 has also won this prestigious award for its Onshore Terminal plant in the year 2010-11 and for its Control & Riser Platform (CRP) in the year 2009-10.
To encourage outstanding safety performance of the industry and to inculcate a positive culture of competitiveness among the industry members in adopting best practices, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas introduced a system of Oil Industry Safety Awards in the year 1987. These Safety Awards are presented to those organizations which achieved 'exceptional safety performance'. The criteria for selection of these awards is based on various parameters like complexity of the facility, volumes handled, safety management system with minimum fires, accidents & losses.
