Kakinada: JNTUK In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof B Prabhakar Rao exhorted the youth to take up sports to get relief from stress and strain in day-to-day life. He inaugurated the 3rd Central Zone Inter-Collegiate Athletic Championship 2014-15 at JNTUK here on Friday. Prabhakar Rao asked the students to develop sportsman spirit and also various skills related to sports and games to overcome real life’s challenges.

University College of Engineering (UCEK), JNTUK is organising the sports meet which would be held up to December 14.


Prof GVR Prasada Raju, Registrar, said that through sports one could develop positive attitude and lead life serenely. A new athletic track constructed on the university premises was inaugurated on this occasion. Around 400 students from 30 affiliated colleges of JNTUK are participating in the athletic meet. Javelin throw finals, 100 mts finals, long jump finals, 800 mts finals and short-put finals were conducted on the first day. G Syam Kumar, secretary, ICT presented an annual sports report to the gathering.

K Padma Raju, principal, UCEK, P Subba Rao, vice-principal D Koteswara Rao and others were present.
