Vijayawada: District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) P Rama Krishna formally inaugurated the 17th annual sports meet of Nalanda Vidya Nikethan here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he underlined the need to spot and encourage budding sports talent in Andhra Pradesh to make the State excel at the national and international level tournaments. There was also a need to develop sports infrastructure in the State, he said.
Lauding the school management for developing a vast playground, he urged it to allow district players to make use of it for their training and practice sessions. Students demonstrated drill, yoga and other feats. Cultural programmes were also organised to mark the occasion.
Principal Madala Padmaja said the school organised sports and games for students in the city from November 27 to December 11 to mark its annual sports meet. Prizes will be given away to the winners at the valedictory of the sports meet on Saturday, she said. CSE School Principal Susanth Das, Vice-principal Devasena, Correspondent A Vijay Babu and others were present.
