Hyderabad: Stung by the agitation by some farmers whose names did not figure in the list of the beneficiaries of the much-talked crop loan waiver scheme, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu decided to take corrective measures ahead of the winter session of the State Assembly.
During a review meeting with officials of the Finance department, held here on Wednesday, Naidu asked them to look into the issues raised by genuine farmers in the implementation of crop loan waiver scheme. He also directed them to probe into the allegations made by some farmers that same Aadhaar number was issued to more than one family in several villages across the State.
Naidu told them he had also received some complaints that two to three families have the same Aadhaar number. He called upon the officials to look into the matter and resolve the issue. Meanwhile, interacting with reporters, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu expressed satisfaction over the way the crop loan waiver scheme was being implemented.
“The government is able to cover over 95 per cent of the eligible farmers in the first phase. We would see that every eligible farmer get the benefit of loan waiver scheme,” he said. Earlier, during the review meeting, Naidu said the Debt Redemption programme had brought relief to farmers in the State and asked the Finance department to frame a policy on ‘Smart AP’ concept. Naidu also reviewed the status of commercial taxes in the State and asked officials to set up meetings with taxpayers and dealers in 13 districts of the State.
