Hyderabad: Many BJP leaders from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are vying with each other to grab nominated posts at the Centre. Party national president Amit Shah is being flooded with resumes, while those who have influence in political corridors of New Delhi have intensified lobbying for the posts.

In all, over 2000 nominated posts fell vacant at the Centre after the 2014 General Election. It includes Railway Board, directors to nationalised banks, Telecom Advisory Boards, Food Advisory Committees, Consumer Forums, national Labour Commissions, SC, ST and OBC Commissions and the Central Censor Board.

Sources said that from Telangana, party national executive member N Indrasena Reddy, N Janardhan Reddy, Baddam Bal Reddy, actor Jeevitha, party vice president S Venkateswara Rao (Nalgonda), S Malla Reddy (Ranga Reddy) and Venkataramani, party general secretary S Pradeep Kumar and party secretary K Venkateshwarlu were trying to get a nominated post. Some of these leaders have already met Amith Shah.

Telangana BJP spokespersons K Krishna Sagar Rao, M Raghunandan Rao and BJYM president P Vikram Reddy are also in the race for the posts. Former DGP V Dinesh Reddy, who was the member of the party’s think tank in Telangana, is also working hard to get a nominated post.

In AP, senior leaders who strongly opposed the bifurcation of the State were the front runners for the nominated posts. Party’s Seemandhra Udyama Committee leaders N Raghunadha Babu, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy (who was also the BJYM AP unit president) and secretaries – P Venugopalam, Ch Mahalaxmi and G Bhanu Prakash Reddy urged the party high command to nominate them in the vacant posts.

Since there was a tough competition from Telangana and AP leaders, the party high command would take more time to fill the vacancies from the two States. The party high command has reportedly sought the opinion of party presidents of AP and Telangana - G Hari Babu and G Kishan Reddy, respectively, on the finalization of the names recently.
