Guntur: The Call Centre in Hyderabad has received 1,778 phone calls through the Dial 100 programme from the Guntur (urban) police limits from December 1 to 31 in 2014. In a press release here on Tuesday, the Guntur (urban) police, said that among these, 17.50 % constitute group clashes, missing cases and cases involving sexual harassments.

Among the other cases, 29.50 % of the calls relate to road accidents, 3.20 % to property disputes, 1.33 % to bodily injuries and suicides, 10 % of them to public property and 48.37 % calls relate to other crimes.

The police said that FIRs have been filed in respect to 23 calls and the remaining cases were resolved in the SHOs. A special monitory cell has been set up to monitor the Dial 100 programme and the people made good use of the Dial 100 programme, which received large number of calls. As soon as they received the calls, the Blue Colts, the Rakshak and other police staff took up complaints and resolved them immediately. Sources in the police department said that action would be initiated against those who made false complaints.

Staff in the special cell would contact the callers and find out from them whether their complaints were taken up or not. Based on their feedback, necessary action would be taken. According to the press release, the Additional Superintendent of Police J Bhaskar Rao, the nodal officer and the DSP (Crime) K Prakash Babu, Sub-Inspector of Police D Subrahmanyam and other staff coordinated the Dial 100 programme.
