United Andhra Pradesh from the beginning faced many problems regarding power and water sharing with its neighbouring states Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Many a times Karnataka and Maharashtra refused to share water and even increased the height of dams like Almatti which only sounded deathknell to the state's water requirements.

No amounts of protests and all party meets, meetings with Chief Ministers and even representations to Union Government could solve the problems in Andhra Pradesh's favour. Many people felt power play and number of MPs play important role as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra politicians are known for their arm twisting tactics.

But things did not change even when Andhra Pradesh sent 40 plus MPs to Centre. This shows more than MPs' strength it requires other forms of pressure. Now with Andhra Pradesh bifurcation and reduced MPs for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, people are worried as to how to deal with the neighbouring states to get their share.

Already the two divided states are fighting between themselves making life easier for the other states. This may affect the farmers of both states. It's time for the two states to realise it that a their tiff will result in a gain for the third party.
