Irani: IIM Council will be formed

Yesterday, in Vishakapatnam Central Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani laid the foundation stone for IIM Visakhapatnam at Gambheeram area.
According to the reports, Admissions to IIM-V will be open from the next academic year 2015-16 and IIM-Bangalore is the mentor institution. The classes for IIM-V will operate out of Andhra University campus till infrastructure is established on over 300 acres of IIM-V campus coming up in the city.
While addressing the public after the ceremony the Minister Irani said that the IIM Bill would be introduced in Parliament during the Winter Session of Parliament and hoped that the historic Bill will become an Act and become a reality, which will lead to creation of the IIM Council which will oversee the functioning of IIMs. She sought everybody's help to participate in the new education policy discussions that begin on January 26.
