Hyderabad: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) is making all out efforts to see that the party leaders do not cross over to other parties particularly the BJP in Andhra Pradesh. It is learnt that the party leadership has been in constant touch with leaders like Botcha Satyanarayana, Harsha Kumar, Anam brothers and others and has been trying to convince them that the future belongs to them.

According to highly placed sources, the party high command has told Botcha that he too would have an important role to play in the party soon and the Congress will have good political future. It is understood that AICC president Sonia Gandhi has conveyed to those who were looking towards the BJP and the TDP that the party was working out new strategies to revive the Congress in AP as its base continued to be intact.

It is also said to be contemplating to revamp the APCC and speculation is that Anam Vivekananda Reddy may be made the new APCC president. Sources say that the AICC is contemplating to try and see that the YSRCP either aligns with the Congress or merges with the Congress so that together they can emerge as a formidable force and may even come to power in the next elections.

This has now pushed leaders like Botcha in a dilemma on whether or not to cross over to the BJP. Botcha feels that if he waits for five years, he may have to take political retirement if the Congress fails to come to power in 2019. Political analysts feel that the YSRCP may not agree for merger with the Congress.

They say that since it is being speculated that the TDP and BJP may part ways soon if Jagan decides to ally with someone, he would prefer the BJP rather than the Congress. The BJP too is making all out efforts to become a force to be reckoned with in AP.

However, Congress sources claim that the saffron party has no base in AP and it is only creating hype. The Congress continues to be a force though it got decimated in the last elections. Hence keeping the political reality in view, Jagan would prefer to go with the Congress in the next elections.
