Nellore: Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister D Purandeswari claimed here on Sunday that there was the Narendra Modi wave was in still intact in the country and that the party’s vote bank in Delhi remained undisturbed despite the resounding victory scored by the Aam Aadmi Party in the recent elections.

Speaking to the media in the party office here, after taking part in the membership drive and other programmes in Kovur and meeting several BJP leaders, Purandeswari stated that in the last Delhi Assembly election the BJP had secured 34 per cent votes. In the recent poll, the vote share was 33 per cent.

She contended voters of other parties shifted their support to AAP.

She said the party made a clean sweep in the Assam Municipal elections held after the debacle in Delhi. She claimed that various surveys conducted in the country showed that the Modi was commanding 67 per cent vote share.

Purandeswari advised the leaders, who indulge in criticism of the party, to have introspection. She claimed that there was good response to the BJP membership drive across the country.

In Nellore district people were coming forward to enrol themselves as party members. She said Modi’s development agenda and welfare programmes were attracting the people.
