Briefing newsmen of the cabinet decisions, the I&PR Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said that the state already sold nearly 2000 MT said a Red Sanders wood anti-smuggling task force with 15 forest officers and 45 policemen have been formed to contain the menace. "We have approached the government for CITES (Convention of International Treaty of endangered species) permissions for selling Red sanders.

He said, so far the police and forest officials in joint operations have seized 6290 vehicles and arrested 15,2423 persons including 40 of them in PD act. They had set up 84 base camps in forests with 37 strike forces, 50 check posts and 12 armed units.

The government plans to utilise funds so generated for welfare and development programs.
