Rajahmundry: Efforts are on to reunite CPI and CPI (M) and the issue would be discussed at CPI national conference going to be held at Puducherry very soon, said CPI national committee member, K Narayana. Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, Narayana stressed the need for a united fight by the Left parties against the BJP government which had failed on all fronts. Hailing Aam Admi Party (AAP) fonder and New Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal for making BJP bite the dust in the Delhi elections, the CPI leader said it could be done with neither Congress nor the Left parties.

After coming to power by campaigning against the price rise and assuring of bringing back black money from foreign banks, the BJP was now safeguarding the interests of corporate sectors and trying to bring FDIs in every public sector units, he alleged. Though he did not directly oppose the nuclear deal between the US and India, Narayana observed that corporate companies who managed nuclear installations were not giving safety assurances.

He made it clear that the Left parties would oppose tooth and nail any effort which might harm the secular fabric of the country. He cautioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi to keep away from communal organisations which were influencing the government. Narayana came down heavily on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu who, he observed, was begging the Prime Minister for special status as well as sanction of special grants for residuary State of Andhra Pradesh.

He reminded Chandrababu Naidu that the people of Andhra Pradesh had voted him to fight for their rights, not for begging. He recalled that Chandrababu won the elections with the slogan of Telugu pride and said he was now mortgaging the pride of Telugu people at the feet of Narendra Modi. He expressed doubt that Chandrababu had a hidden agenda and he was not forcing the Centre for special status for AP because he was more interested in gaining political benefits.

Terming the whole issue of new capital as circus, Narayana said that two engineering colleges were enough to set up Chief Minister’s office and added that Chandrababu Naidu was more interested in building a new structure which would carry his name forever. Answering to a question, the CPI leader said Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy was not performing his duties properly even though the people of Andhra Pradesh gave him good support.
