Public furore over Christ's Cross in Tirupati

Are campaign of other religions also banned in Tirupati town? Obviously not but the Hindu hard core fanatics have made it a public issue.

The campaign by TTD against promotion of other religions has taken a new turn with the graphics of Cross appearing on the walls of SV Arts College in Tirupati town.TTD EO Dr.D Sambasiva Rao ordered for vigilance inquiry over the images on the walls of SV Arts College building allegedly encouraging proselytisation and caused a public uproar in the temple town on Friday evening .

Reacting immediately,TTD EO ordered for vigilance enquiry over the incident and also instructed DEVASTHANAMS Educational Officer (DEO) Dr. A Vijay Kumar for a departmental probe Meanwhile the DEO has also lodged a complaint in the university police station.The ttd engineering department also wiped off the "Cross" marks on the walls of SV Arts college.

Although people of Tirupati do not oppose any religious practice in the town,they are particular that there should be no such campaign of either Islam or Christianity in Tirumala shrine, abode of Lord Venkaeswara where proselytisation is banned by a legislation of AP Assembly . Very recently an attempt to launch an Islamic theological institution near Tirupati was stalled by police on complaints of locals .
