Srikakulam: District Collector P Laxminarasimham expressed his dissatisfaction over the performance of the Prohibition and Excise officials in preventing belt shops and shifting of licensed liquor shops from the roadside. During a review meeting with Excise officials on belt shops and roadside liquor shops here on Thursday, he said Excise officials would also be made liable for accidents, particularly on National Highway-16 and other State highways.
He directed the officials to submit a report on roadside liquor shops and belt shops across the district. The Collector asked the officials to instruct all licensed liquor shops to issue receipts for every retail sale of liquor, which would help to control belt shops. Excise Deputy Commissioner T Nagalaxmi and other officials participated in the meeting.
