AP CM Chandrababu Naidu who knows the strategy of conventions and expos for attracting global investment to the state and hence three international convention centers are being planned in the three major cities of Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati.


As many as 19 companies responded to the Expression of Interest (EOI) for these three projects called for by the Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (Incap), the nodal agency of the AP government.


On the lines of the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, the Andhra Pradesh government wants to develop convention centers under the design, build, operate and transfer basis.


The convention centres at Vizag and Tirupati are to have a seating capacity of 8,000-10,000 people and include a star hotel, exhibition halls, shopping complex-cum multiplex, food courts and entertainment centres. Vijayawada will have a mini-convention hall. The developers for all the three projects will be selected through global focus bidding and competitive bidding.
