Eluru: Former minister and West Godavari district YSR Congress Party president Kothapalli Subbarayudu on Thursday said the YSRCP was ready for an open debate with the ruling Telugu Desam Party leaders on the ill-conceived Pattiseema lift irrigation project at any time and at any place. Speaking to newsmen at the district YSRCP office here, he said the Pattiseema project taken up by the TDP government would affect the interests of farmers of East and West Godavari districts.

Lack of adequate irrigation water for the farmland in the Godavari delta with the execution of Pattiseema project would result in a drastic fall in production of foodgrains. It would also hit the Krishna delta farmers, besides hampering the progress of multi-purpose Polavaram irrigation project.

The Bus Yatra taken up by opposition leader and YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy highlighting the adverse effects of Pattiseema project on agriculture in the State was a success as it had evoked a tremendous response from farmers in East and West Godavari districts, he said. YSRCP leaders P Srilakshmi and D Varaprasada Rao were also present at the news conference.
