State to adopt Shanghai model.The Andhra Pradesh government was keen to adopt ‘Shanghai’ model of power development in the new capital city, Amaravathi, State Energy Secretary Ajay Jain said.
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government was keen to adopt ‘Shanghai’ model of power development in the new capital city, Amaravathi, State Energy Secretary Ajay Jain said. Interacting with the officials of Energy department after returning from his official China visit, Jain said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was so much impressed with the foolproof mechanism installed to provide reliable, uninterrupted and round-the-clock power to domestic and industrial sectors in China.

The Chief Minister had said he would prefer Shanghai model of power development to be replicated in the new capital city, according to Jain. On the directions of Naidu, the official said thedepartment would make a special presentation on some important power-related issues at a high-level meeting with Energy, Planning and Finance departments on Monday.
Enhancing of per capita consumption and promotion of energy efficiency, energy consumption, agriculture, industrial, domestic and commercial and number of agriculture pump sets would be discussed in the meeting. The power utilities would also take all possible measures to enhance power generation from conventional and non-conventional sources (renewable energy), reduction of T and D (Transmission and Distribution) losses, segregation of feeders etc., with a special focus on energy efficiency and Conservation, Jain added.
