With the APSRTC strike continuing on its third day of strike against wage revision, commuters suffer along with the students who struggled to reach the EAMCET examination centres on Friday.

The RTC employees protested at different places in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh demanding a 43% hike in their salaries. The APSRTC Management who brought in buses to be operated by temporary staff was prevented by the RTC employees.

In recurrence to the ongoing EAMCET examination, private colleges were asked to operate free transport services for the 2.50 lakh students scheduled to take the Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) at various bus junctions and railway stations. The students who were asked to reach a day prior to the exam still struggled to cope up with the transport services provided.

APSRTC Managing Director N Sambasiva Rao had appealed to the protesting APSRTC employees to stop their strike and resume duties as the Andhra Pradesh state government has appointed a cabinet sub-committee to discuss the issue in a cordial manner.

With a demand of 43% hike in salaries, the RTC employees received a response wherein the APSRTC management agreed to hike the wages up to 27% owing to the organization’s poor financial condition.
