He said the Polavaram Project, which was neglected for over a decade, would be completed in five years. The Chief Minister, who was on tour as part of his Jaladeeksha, visited the Polavaram Project and stayed on Thursday night at the Hill View guest house at the project site near Ramayyapeta village of West Godavari district. Addressing a press conference on Friday morning, he said Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme would also be completed in one year.

Referring to the much delayed delta modernisation programme, he said the Godavari delta modernisation would be taken up utilising Rs 1,400 crore. He praised people of West Godavari district who gave full majority to the Telugu Desam. Naidu said Marine University would be established near Bhimavaram.

Likewise, the government would develop the ceramic industries in the district. He added that there was possibility of developing tourism, aquaculture, pisciculture, oil palm and horticulture in West Godavari district. The Chief Minister said the government had allocated Rs 40,000 crore for welfare schemes.

Measures were on to establish various industries in the district. A mega food park would be established soon.

Referring to the steps being taken to curb the smuggling of red sanders, he said that the government earned Rs 3,000 crore through red sanders auction. Ministers Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, P Sujatha, Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao, Rajya Sabha member Thota Sitaramalakshmi and other TDP leaders were present.
