On the day of Botcha’s new political shift the million dollar question of the day in Andhra Pradesh checking with one another is “what is the power that is pulling leaders from losing political parties to YSRCP?”. Is it the charisma of party chief YS Jagan Mohan reddy or these leaders finding any under current of sympathy wave in public towards YSRCP? Or some other money or muscle power of YSRCP? Why are these leaders not able to get closer to the ruling TDP or BJP which has power at the centre and hold a friendly alliance with TDP in the state?

On the day of Botcha’s new political shift the million dollar question of the day in Andhra Pradesh checking with one another is “what is the power that is pulling leaders from losing political parties to YSRCP?”. Is it the charisma of party chief YS Jagan Mohan reddy or these leaders finding any under current of sympathy wave in public towards YSRCP? Or some other money or muscle power of YSRCP? Why are these leaders not able to get closer to the ruling TDP or BJP which has power at the centre and hold a friendly alliance with TDP in the state?

Let us analyse the positive factors that are attracting these leaders towards YSRCP. Post 2015 elections, Andhra Pradesh is experiencing a political vacuum with Congress' total dismissal and all stalwart leaders of Congress lying low or jumping to other political parties. Congress is now in a state of searching not only for its leaders but also for its cadre. Even communist parties are in similar position. So the leaders who could not get an invitation from ruling TDP or BJP have no other option but to join YSRCP.

Secondly, for the leaders of erstwhile Congress who indulged in political fight with TDP over the last 20 years it is not easy to join TDP but easier to join YSRCP which is of their native branch and can sync faster with ideologies of YSRCP leaders' mindset. Another important factor being heard in circles is that the Congress High Command is not in a position to support the candidates financially in the coming elections and leaders hoping that YSRCP is capable of doing that for the elections of 2020. Many Congress leaders of the past are under the impression that Chandrababu Naidu will not be able to carry out his promises of building new state while carrying out the populist policies to win the electorate.

Many leaders in the state have a feeling that Modi government at the Centre will only use TDP MPs to gain political mileage but will never help the state out of the way. The postponement of special status, not giving enough support to Irrigation projects such as Polavaram in budget, delay in announcing separate railway zone for Visakhapatnam and many more incidents of such are creating this opinion. By the time of elections, the BJP at the centre will depart from TDP showing several reasons and make TDP a scape goat of alliance. This makes TDP a losing party at the election. So many now want to encash the anti incumbency factor by staying in the Opposition rather than joining ruling party.
The game plan of YSRCP will be to brand both Chandrababu Naidu and Narendra modi as pro industrialist and anti farmer, anti poor and anti minority political leaders to earn the ballot of masses. This is being spread fast to the erstwhile Congress leaders and people who are coming out of the TDP due to faction politics by the Jagan’s team of political and corporate strategists. Botcha’s entry into Jagan’s nest is not for the meritorious policies of YSRCP but to be in the opposition party of TDP hoping that Chandrababu will be a big failure.
