New Delhi: Intensifying the AP government's efforts to convert the cash-for-vote scam into a phone-tapping case, its Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao on Thursday met the top brass of TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) here to provide "proof of the same".

Caught on the wrong foot in the Revanth Reddy issue, the AP government is making herculean efforts to convince the Centre. Today's effort is in continuation of the same. He is said to have presented details of alleged phone tapping by providing the numbers of the phones and the addresses.

In his meeting with Ramesh Khullar, chairman of the TRAI and the Telecom Secretary Rakesh Garg, Krishna Rao reportedly explained the grounds for their suspicion in the issue. He is said to have explained that including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's phone, the phones of other prominent TDP leaders, too, had also been tapped.

He is said to have provided them with call records of the same in which calls from some TRS leaders figure. These include the numbers of some of the mobile phones of the TRS leaders. The AP government has been claiming, of late, that about 124 phones of its officials and TDP leaders had been tapped over a period.

It may be recalled that the AP Government, of late, is not only seeking action against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his top bureaucrats, but also recall of the Governor. Though Naidu refuted the same at a press conference here during his last visit, the voices for recall of the Governor are only becoming more strident in the TDP with each passing day.
