Hyderabad: YSR Congress demanded that the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhanwar Lal take immediate action against the TDP MLC candidate in Prakasam district for luring YSRCP MPTCs and ZPTCs by offering cash and holding them hostage in a hotel by organising a camp.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, after submitting a memorandum to the CEO, party Deputy floor leader Jyotula Nehru and senior party leader Ummareddy Venkates- warlu said the party has 496 MPTCs while the TDP has only 472 MPTCs. Going by this arithmetic, the victory of YSRCP candidate from local bodies, scheduled to be held on July 3, should be a foregone conclusion.

Ongole MP Y V Subba Reddy demanding disqualification of the TDP candidate for local bodies MLC election, Magunta Srinivasula Reddy, at a press conference in Ongole on Tuesday

“However, the TDP camp had taken away 35 MPTCs of YSRCP and paid them Rs 50,000 to each as advance in the office of TDP candidate Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy , promising to pay a balance of Rs 2 lakh at a later date. All the MPTCs were taken to Saptagiri Lodge in Nellore and were held captive there, Nehru complained,” he said. He added,

“When the captive MPTCs were rescued by the YSRCP MLAs K Sridhar Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav from the hotel the whole issue of cash-for-vote came to light”. Though the same was informed to the police, no action had been taken by them, he complained, he said. Basing on the evidence, the YSRCP leaders appealed to the CEO to disqualify the TDP MLC candidate Magunta Srinivasula Reddy immediately.
