Hyderabad: A stressed out administration in East and West Godavari districts engaged in rolling out Godavari Pushkaram works were striving hard to complete the works as only less than 24 hours left for the muhurtham.

In West Godavari, officials were in a jittery as the platform for the shower bath facility was yet to be completed and the simple movement of pilgrims in the designated path to the Ghats remained full of dust. The administration has reportedly planned to do a cementing work there.

Even works related to places where Pindapradanam is performed at Kovvur Ghat needed final touches. Also, the administration has set up two temporary bus stops near the toll-gate at the road-cum-rail bridge on Kovvuru side and at the new bridge on Tallapudi road. However, they are incomplete and officials are trying to complete the works.

The administration is very much worried about the low water levels at seven Ghats. Low-level water problem is also felt at Pattiseema, Gutala, Kukkunuru and Kaundinya Mukthi ghats. Meanwhile, adding to their woes, people are pouring in to take holy dip at Goshpada Kshetram in Kovvuru, Kotilingala Ghat and Pushkar Ghat in Rajahmundry, NTR- Vasista Gaht in Narasapuram.

In Rajahmundry, the tendered works by the Municipal Corporation of Rajahmundry (MCR) has got bogged down in delays. Incomplete coverage of open drains with cement slabs at several places in the city has been posing a safety threat to the pilgrims.
