Speaking to media persons at the stampede site, YS Jagan said that the Saraswathi ghat was reserved for VIPs but the AP CM had opted to offer puja at the main Pushkar ghat.
"It was blocked for two hours for pilgrims. When the barricades were removed there was sudden surge as the devotees were waiting for long. Once the barricades were open, devotees rushed resulting in stampede in which more than 25 persons were killed and injured,” he said and added that Chandrababu should own responsibility and quit.
YS Jagan further said that for the sake of publicity, Chandrababu went to offer puja at the main ghat which is meant for general public.
