Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has turned out to be the first State head in the country, to have a tamper-proof security environment. The intrusion detection system has been deployed to beef up high-end security protocols in ‘L’ block, where the CMO is located.

According to sources, the move has come against the back drop of allegations of Telangana State resorting to illegal tapping of the phones of the Chief Minister, ministers and senior officials in the AP Secretariat. This high end security taxonomy was opted, to ensure that there is no electronic intrusion into internet, mobile and land telephone networks of the CMO.

It is reliably learnt that the State government has obtained permission from the Ministry for Home Affairs for deploying an all-in-one counter surveillance device multifunctional bug detector and to import the needed hardware for the same, the sources added.

Though the whole exercise was plannedbefore the Chief Minister’s Japan tour but it was been kept under wraps for security reasons. The new electronic surveillance initiative would now be handled exclusively by the intelligence wing attached to the CMO, the sources said. The operation range details of the new equipment were kept confidential.

But, it would help in phone line tap detection, including internet or IP phone, detection of real time GPS vehicle tracking devices. Laser eavesdropping equipment prevention, enables to hear the audio being sent out by transmitters. This, the senior intelligence officials hope would solve the problem of phone tapping and electronic snooping.

However, when contacted the Government’s Communications Advisor Prakala Prabhakar said that “There was only an advice that had come in that direction, to prevent telephone tapping. But, the government has not taken any decision on the issue and there was no such electronic surveillance system deployed in the CMO.”
