Vijayawada: Members of the Youth Congress on Saturday laid siege to the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) office here on Saturday in protest against the government’s move to acquire agriculture lands for the capital. The activists led by the AP Youth Congress president Devineni Avinash, raised slogans against the State government for forcibly snatching away fertile lands from the farmers.


The Youth Congress activists criticised the government for using force to take away lands only to give them to the corporate companies. Addressing the activists, Avinash advised the government to build the capital in the lands acquired so far and there was no need for further acquisition.

He demanded the government to exempt lands of small and medium farmers from land acquisition. He expressed fear that the farmers and farm labourers would be thrown out on the streets if their lands were acquired.The Krishna district Congress president Kadiyala Butchi Babu and others were present.
