Visakhapatnam: Expressing his serious concern over Andhra Pradesh lagging far behind many States in primary education, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to the teachers to bring out their best and work with dedication to achieve 100 per cent literacy by 2019. The State ranks 31st among the 35 States in the country in the field of primary education.



Addressing the State celebrations of the Teachers Day in Andhra University Engineering College Grounds here on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the State was doing its best for the welfare of the teachers and it was their turn to work with motivation to improve the literacy rate.



“We have given 42 per cent fitment and improved working conditions and now it is your turn to get us the results,’’ the Chief Minister told the teachers. He said even teachers’ skills would be developed. They would be provided with iPads shortly and trained in IT.


Apart from this, wireless internet service would be provided to all the schools in phases so that the higher secondary students could start learning Information Technology at the early stages.



In order to improve literacy, the services of DWCRA members would also be sought. They would be trained to impart vocational training courses and education to the adults. With regard to higher education, Chief Minister said the Private Universities Bill would be brought soon so that AP could have 15 best universities of the world in the State.



He said the world’s best universities are funded under corporate social responsibility and suggested that former students of Andhra University who include Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and Ganta Srinivasa Rao should have a meeting on October 12 to raise funds so that the university could have Rs 100 crore corpus fund.



HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said his department would rope in the services of NGOs to improve the standards of primary education in the State. Local MP Dr K Haribabu said CSR funds would be sought for all the ZP High Schools in the State to improve infrastructure facilities and provide toilets. Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu and MLC MVVS Murthi also spoke.
