New Delhi: With the Prime Minister Narendra Modi having agreed to lay the foundation stone for the Capital city Amaravati, the government has decided to organise the function between 12.35 and 12.45 pm on October 22.

AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who called on the Prime Minister on Monday evening, sought Modi's patronage for the development of Amaravati into a world class city.

He said the Prime Minister had promised to put in a word with Niti Aayog to help the State in realising its full potential including construction of the Capital city.

Naidu said the Prime Minister has also agreed to visit Tirumala to inaugurate an Air Port terminal built at a cost of Rs 170 crore.Naidu said apart from inviting dignitaries and political heads for the foundation function of Amaravati, invitations would be sent to all farmers who had donated lands for the capital.

Referring to the Sagar Mala first apex meeting that he attended, he said apart from the development of inland water ways, deep sea ports and proper connectivity of the Eastern shores of India would help the country compete with the countries like China in imports and exports.

Referring to the interactive session he had with Amitabh Verma of Inland Waterways Authorities of India was quite encouraging and the dream of connecting Godavari and Krishna rivers via Telangana, AP and Puducherry and Tamil Nad was exhilarating.

It would cut down costs of goods to a great extent, he said. He also extracted his promise to complete the Polavaram project on time once again.

Naidu sought PM's time for submitting Swachh Bharat report prepared by his sub-committee consisting nine CMs'. Naidu said efforts were also on to secure as many infrastructure projects as possible alongside new roadways and railways apart from waterways.

He was hopeful AP would emerge as the best State and Amaravati, the best city in the world. Naidu who invited the Governor, E S L Narasimhan, for the foundation function, said "how could there be a function without the Governor".

Setting aside security concerns, Naidu walked down from his guest house in the AP Bhavan to the Sabari block, half a furlong away, to meet the Governor.
