Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh and Japan have entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for industrial development and construction of the new capital Amaravati.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Japanese State Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Yosuke Takagi, signed the MoC at a meeting held at Gateway Hotel in Vijayawada on Vijayadasami.

A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the AP Finance department and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to invite foreign investments and to develop proposed capital city and region. JBIC intends to promote investments and exports to the State by Japanese companies.

Principal Finance Secretary of AP Government Dr PV Ramesh and Director General, Social Infrastructure Department, JBIC, Noriko Nasu signed the MoU.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said that Japan has come forward to work with AP in urban development, port development, agriculture technology and super critical power. He said that relevant discussions were held during his Japanese visit recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Japanese State Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Yosuke Takagi, describing CM Chandrababu Naidu as ‘friend’, said that AP was poised to emerge as the gateway of the East Coast.
