Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday, asked the police officials to be serious and put an end to any violent activities in the State. He held a review meeting with the police and other departments on the law and order issues.

The Chief Minister asked the senior officials to ensure that the State is crime-free and peaceful to ensure better investments from across the world. He asked the senior police officials to keep a constant watch on the movements of the persons with criminal record and ensure that they don’t resort to any unlawful activity.

He suggested senior officials to keep an eye on the functioning of the police officers at different levels about maintaining law and order and controlling criminal activities. Naidu directed the department to recruit wherever necessary and emphasised the need for making use of technology and outsourcing some functions to get good results.

Chief Minster also directed the police officials to procure the software which will enable to track the movements and activities of noted criminals in the State by capturing their fingerprints, iris and facial features and storing them in the servers which are connected to the CCTV networks placed at important business centres that form Central Criminal Tracking System.

Naidu desired that all the cities must be kept clean and devoid of wall writings, wall posters etc., with uniform markings on roads and traffic junctions, dividers with greenery to create an eco system for law-abiding practices among the citizens. Referring to the red sanders smuggling, he cautioned the officials to be more alert as there was recent increase in the smuggling activity.

He batted for the amendment to the Forest Act, 1967 that provides for seizure and recovery of smugglers' assets to be expedited from Government of India. The additional director general (law and order) RP Thakur, additional DG (Intelligence) AB Venkateswara Rao, Vijayawada Commissioner of Police, Gautam Sawang, IG (law and order) Harish Gupta, Visakhapatnam police commissioner Amit Garg, and CMO joint secretary PS Pradyumna were present at the review.
